    This question, gentle readers, comes to us from anonymous,
    who wishes to know:

    Does an author always need to reply to their received feedback to in some way (if possible, of course, allowing for those cases off-LJ where no reply email is provided), even if it's just a thank you? If the replies are on LJ, should they worry too much about things getting obviously repetitious since everybody can see those replies?

    This question, gentle readers, comes to us from [info]m_butterfly, who wishes to know:

    So... say you're someone who is notoriously bad about replying to things, so that you have a tendency to answer emails and comments months later.

    Is it necessary when you do so to in some way acknowledge the time lapse, and apologize for it? Could you get away with replying as though there hasn't been a big wait, or should you at least include something like, "Just unearthed this from the depths of my inbox," if not an outright, "Sorry about the delay, but..."?
